Emergency oral care during the coronavirus outbreak

While social distancing is key to controlling the spread of Coronavirus, the key maintaining your optimal oral health is to make sure you don’t end up with dental infections.

Infections left untreated can be life-threatening, so it is best to be seen by an emergency dentist or oral surgeon asap if you are experiencing any pain, swelling or discomfort.

We are OPEN to anyone with oral or severe dental emergencies in the Lowcountry area including the Hilton Head and Bluffton.

If you do not feel comfortable coming into our office but feel you need to be seen – no problem. COAFS is a leader in teledentistry, which allows providers in different locations to work with your dentist or other healthcare provider to collaborate on care. After a short video consultation with one of our providers, your data will be reviewed by on oral surgeon who can create a treatment plan and make any necessary referrals. In this way, COAFS can cooperate with your dentist and other doctors every step of the way on your dental heath journey.

What constitutes a dental emergency? Here are just a few examples:

-Wisdom tooth pain. This may be an infection. Call immediately if your mouth does not open fully or if you are experiencing a bad taste in your mouth.

-Intense, throbbing pain in your jaw

-Infection of the face with intra-oral or extra-oral swelling

-Trauma to the teeth or the jaw

-A loose dental implant

-and more
