Michael Monto, DMD, MD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with nearly 30 years of experience. Raised in northeastern New Jersey, Dr. Monto developed an early appreciation for discipline, teamwork, and consistency through athletics and academics. He attended Fordham University, where he met his wife and competed as a Division I rower on the crew team. He graduated at the top of his class before continuing his training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his dental degree and was first introduced to oral and maxillofacial surgery. During this time, he was awarded a fellowship with the American Cancer Society in surgical oncology.

He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at Columbia University, where he also earned his medical degree and completed a general surgery internship. His training reinforced a belief that the best outcomes are achieved through collaboration, precision, and a strong team-based approach to care.

Following his training, Dr. Monto has practiced across New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, and South

Carolina, providing both routine and complex surgical care. He served for 16 years as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Helen Hayes Hospital, a tertiary care center, and held an academic appointment as an Outstanding Clinical Professor at Wright State University School of Medicine, where he contributed to the training of future surgeons.

Outside of the office, Dr. Monto adores spending time with his wife for 34 years, and together they share a deep appreciation for travel, fine food, fitness, and quiet evenings in the Carolinas. He is a proud father of two adult children; his son, who serves as COO of a large oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Columbus, Ohio, and his daughter, who lives in Milan, Italy, where she works in digital marketing and holds a master’s degree in luxury branding. A passionate foodie and world traveler, Dr. Monto brings the same curiosity and appreciation for detail to his personal life that he brings to patient care.

Patient Care Coordinator

Patient Care Coordinators are dedicated to planning, managing, and overseeing the successful outcomes of larger cases for a single surgeon. By ensuring that the care team is consistent from the first consultation through to the final follow-up appointment, patients are more likely to have better outcomes, feel better supported throughout the treatment process, and have a known point of contact for any questions that come up along the way. Each surgeon has a Patient Care Coordinator who is responsible for treatment planning, financial coordination, case planning and preparation, referring provider communication, follow-up calls, etc.
